DIY: Homemade Organic Deodorant. No Baking Soda Recipe
I have tried nearly all the "all natural" deodorants on the market and I had pretty much decided that I was just going to stink for the rest of my life.
I thought I would give one last ditch effort and make my own deodorant.
I researched all the recipes on Pinterest and the mommy blogs and put together this recipe.
I wanted all organic.
No baking soda.
No powder.
No brushes.
No creams I had to spread on with my fingers.
Just a stick of deodorant.
That would last the entire day.
This recipe turned out to be a weird color.
I think it's because of the yellow beeswax mixing with the Redmond's Clay.
But I have to say it works GREAT.
It glides on easy.
And you can add your own essential oils to customize the scent.
THE RECIPE:
1/3 Cup Organic Coconut Oil
3 TBs beeswax
2 TBs Shea Butter
1/3 Cup Arrowroot Powder
2 TBS Redmond's Clay
15 drops Essential Oils
I used frankinsense, lavender, and melaleuca.
I use and trust doTerra and sell them.
If you would like to buy them you can get them HERE on my website
DIRECTIONS:
Melt the coconut oil, beeswax, and shea butter on the stove, stirring constantly.
It only takes about a minute.
Take it off the heat.
Add the arrowroot and Redmond's Clay and whisk quickly.
Add about 15 drops of your favorite essential oils for scent and additional therapeutic benefits.
Pour into 2 deodorant containers.
Let them sit over night and they are ready to go by morning!
The whole thing took me about 5 minutes.
Super Easy!
These would work: Deodorant Containers
Or these are a better price if you go in with a few friends and split them: 12 count pack of Deodorant Containers
Beeswax
I got the coconut oil from Vitacost, using a referral link like this to give me $10 off.
Coconut Oil
$10 off Referral Coupon
This made the price lower than Costco, but Costco changes prices and brands so I need to double check to see if that is still the case.
Everything else I ordered from Amazon.

AWESOME Deal on Argan Oil!
Argan Oil is awesome.
It is perfect for skin and hair.
I have been using a Norwex cloth to wash my face - no cleanser necessary, just WATER.
And then I've been applying a dab of Argan Oil afterwards for moisture, skin repair, etc.
It works so well, instead of applying twice daily, it's more like twice weekly.
I've drastically reduced my chemical exposure and I'm saving money by only needing it every few days.
Here is a nice list of 10 Uses for Argan Oil by Mind Body Green
Ever Save has a really good price on a 4 oz Certified Organic Argan Oil for $18 with FREE shipping.
If you have wanted to try this oil out this is the best price I have ever seen.
Ever Save deal on Argan Oil.
As always, read the fine print before purchasing.

A little story about Essential Oils
I took a beginner's course on using Essentual Oils for medicinal purposes.
I'm a little excited about it.
For example, this past weekend when my husband burned his thumb carrying a pot of boiling water to the sink instead of asking him if he was ok-- I leapt with glee and ran to get the lavender.
Then when my daughter complained of a tummy ache, I nearly didn't summersaults over to my little apothecary kit to get the fennel.
She was on the couch so I had her roll over and lift her shirt just a bit so I could rub a drop or 2 on her belly.
I twisted the cap and heard the satisfying crack of the seal. I tipped the bottle over and nothing came out.
So I gave my wrist a little jerk.
The dropped popped out of the bottle and the entire contents poured all over my daughter and the couch.
The entire house immediately smelled like black licorice.
If you are familiar at all with essential oils the truth is I got lucky. There are many smells worse than black licorice.
I sent my daughter to the shower and started working on the couch.
My daughter threw her shirt into the laundry room.
The next time I did laundry I absentmindedly picked up the shirt and threw it in with the load.
Imagine my surprise when I opened the washer and smelled, not one black licorice shirt, but an entire load of black licorice laundry. It was awesome. I felt like a rock star.
What can we all learn from this experience?
Essential oils are extremely potent. 30 drops of essential oil can fragrance 100 loads of laundry.
An entire jar spilled on one lonely shirt........that's a problem. I should have soaked the shirt in vinegar or sacrificed it to the garbage can. So be careful with your oils my friends. Be very careful.
