What's in Season: March

Here are some fresh foods to look for this month while they are at their peak and bursting with flavor and nutrients!

Just reaching their season:
Asparagus
Artichokes
Strawberries
Lemons

Almost done with their season:
Broccoli
Sweet Potatoes
Brussels Sprouts

Still Going:
Green Peas
Radishes
Spinach
Cauliflower
Celery
Carrots
Cabbage

I didn't realize that avocados are an year round food here in Northern California. Score!

  1. If you blanch the asparagus and store it in air tight freezer containers you can buy when it's cheap and enjoy it for several months. Also, with strawberries, clean and cut, freeze on a single layer on a cookie sheet. Once frozen, stick in backs or tupperware. Great for smoothies, jams, ice cream topping etc etc. The key is to buy A LOT when you see the amazing deal.

  2. And I absolutely think we should plan a trip to a Pick Your Own farm. We can invite ladies from the oils class and zumba too.
